D1 Cafe Con Leche Guitar from Manuel Rodriguez has a spruce top at the bass end, providing a crisp loud tone, and a Cedar top for the treble end, offering a sweet, warm tone. The best of both!
Crafted from rich wood and with an even richer history, Manuel Rodriguez guitars are developed to be as distinctive and unique as the musicians who play them.
Traditionally crafted with a solid Canadian cedar top & Spruce top with laminated Indian rosewood back and sides, providing warm, rich tone and great projection.
All Rodriguez guitars are almost entirely handmade in a totally moisture-controlled environment. The traditional methods of hand forming and gluing are used to ensure each guitar achieves the perfection of a master built guitar, with no detail too minor.
The tone and resonance of the Rodriguez Model D Guitar is dependent on the wood it's made from. The timbers used in its construction were painstakingly chosen by grain, weight and density, from logs which have been cut for at least two years, carefully aged for between five and ten years, and matched in sets to guarantee the highest quality. The Rodriguez Model D Cafe Con Leche features a dual material top, crafted from Half Solid Red Cedar and Half Spruce to provide ultimate tone.
The carefully-selected top is the living, beating heart of the guitar, ensuring a balanced and powerful tonality. The Indian Rosewood bridge ensures the sound of the string and the dynamics of each player's style is fully transmitted to the body.
Using Honduras Cedar and Ebony for the neck, with an Ebony fingerboard accurately fretted with German silver nickel frets and intricately engraved European tuning machines, the Model D Guitar provides a superb playing experience.
Alongside intricate details such as the handmade multicoloured soundhole rosette, Rodriguez guitars look as beautiful as they sound.

The history of Rodriguez guitars is as rich as the wood they are crafted from. Manuel Rodriguez, the grandson of flamenco guitarist Manuel Rodriguez Marequi and son of classical luthier Manuel Rodriguez Perez, learned the art of constructing a guitar firsthand. His apprenticeship began at the age of 13 in Madrid, and after operating in his own shop in Spain, Manuel emigrated to Los Angeles in 1959 and opened a business there. Manuel resided in Los Angeles for nearly 15 years, making guitars for professionals, Hollywood actors, teachers, and students before moving back to Madrid in 1973.
Using only the finest woods, and hand-forming each to precise tolerances, Manuel Rodriguez developed distinctive guitars fit for the world’s preeminent artists. Each instrument is as unique and individual as the musician who plays it.
