At Guitar Superstore we are very pleased to have this Fender Hardtail Stratocaster in our store. We believe the guitar was most likely built in 1979 but could be anywhere from 1979-1981. The guitar features the usual spec of this time period with 21 frets, maple neck and fretboard, large 70's headstock with bullet truss rod cover and a natural finish, arguably the most iconic fender colour from this time period. The guitar has previously had the original hardtail bridge replaced with a Kahler tremolo. This has subsequently been changed back to the original hardtail bridge.
This guitar has been modified over the years but has since been restored to a faithful factory specification. As mentioned above, the guitar was previously equipped with a Kahler tremolo. This has since been removed and a hardtail bridge has been reinstalled. The screw holes and discolouration from underneath the Kahler remain. There are also screw holes on the headstock where a locking tremolo string retainer has been installed and subsequently removed. In terms of general wear, the guitar is in good condition considering its age. There are dings and scratches on the body and tarnishing of metal hardware such as tuners, screws and the neck plate. The finish has aged and worn away on some sections of the neck and fretboard, especially down the sides of the board. These can be felt whilst playing but do not affect the overall playability of the guitar.
